Persian Keyboard on iOS 5

Persian Keyboard on iOS 5

This is how to enable persian keyboard on iOS 5 without a jailbreak.

Step 1.

First you need to backup your iDevice with iTunes

Step 2.

You need to get a copy of  iBackupBot

Step 3.

Open iBackupBot and find the backup you just made, then load it.

Step 4.

Find Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist and open the file. (if your software isn’t registered you’ll have to press cancel and then it will open)

Step 5.

Find <key>AppleKeyboards</key> and after <array> add the following code <string>fa@hw=Persian;sw=Persian</string>

make sure it looks like the screenshot

Optional step to activate persian locale

Using the same Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist scroll down and find

<key>AppleLocale</key>
<string>en_CA</string>
and change the string to fa
after:
<key>AppleLocale</key>
<string>fa</string>

Step 6.

Restore your iDevice using iBackupBot, right click on your backup file and select Restore

Step 6.

Reboot your phone and you should have persian keyboard activated.

  1. Thanks for this tutorial! I tried following these steps using JuicePhone 2.3 and JPHashChecker 0.1a and was able to enable Persian on my iPod touch 4th gen. iOS 5.0.1.

I opened my backup as a mirror, edited GlobalPreferences.plist, and ran JPHashChecker to make the backup appear uncorrupted to iTunes.

  2. Thanks for this tutorial. Your work is greatly appreciated.

    Best Regards from Germany!

  3. Thanks for the great tutorial. If this works, my only problem with my iOS devices will be solved without needing them to be jailbroken.

After backup & restore with iBackupBot, can I then use iTunes to backup and sync files?

  4. This was exciting but didn’t work for me here is what I put in my backup :

    AppleKeyboards

    en_US@hw=US;sw=QWERTY
    fa@hw=Persian;sw=Persian

Then I restored it successfully but no persian keyboard. also no persian keyboard under settings .

I skipped the optional step .

I tried on iphone 3GS with IOS 5.0.1

    Any thoughts ?

  5. your blog removes those array and string tags in comment area :)

  6. Yes , I used ibackupbot to restore . I also made another backup via iTunes afterwards . I opened this new backup with ibackupbot and I can see the changes . still no persian keyboards. do I need to do the optional step too ?

  7. Great job! But I’ve got a jailbroken one, any direct solution to enable Persian keyboard option in the settings?

    • Download iFile from Cydia and follow the instructions on the iDevice.

      • Thanks and I already have iFile installed and ready to work, where can I find the instructions of iDevice?

        • thanks so much. I would just add that you need to in file go to settings show hidden files. once I found that I was able to fix it easily :) Again thank you.

  18. Hey everyone,
I am having a plan on building a wine cellar that will around 600 cubic feet. I was originally going to choose the Whisperkool system to cool the cellar while I haven¡¯t read anything but cons of the item as well as the manufacturer (I’m surprised they still in business with the reviews I have read). Breezaire doesn’t seem to fair much better. Eurocave owns a cellar cooler which is near three times the price while I cannot figure out any reviews on it.
Currently, I find Kalorik? Wine Cooler of the greatest wine cooler reviews is decent. Does any guy have any experience with this product?
Or idea with the large number of units used to cool a cellar?
    Thanks beforehand.

  19. It was amazing.I hate arabic keyboard!!
